Crystal Palace’s £15 Million Bid for Ben Doak Rejected by Liverpool
According to Sami Mokbel, Crystal Palace’s attempt to secure Liverpool winger Ben Doak has been declined after a £15 million offer. This bid doesn’t meet the reported asking price for the 19-year-old, and Palace could return with an enhanced proposal.
The Eagles, managed by Oliver Glasner, are focused on strengthening their squad ahead of the January transfer window. Glasner has pinpointed key areas to reinforce, with the right-wing position being a priority. The departure of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in the summer created a significant gap in Palace’s attack, and they’ve yet to find an adequate replacement. The upcoming transfer window presents an opportunity to resolve this issue.
While Palace has been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron, they are also monitoring other options. However, their £15 million offer for Ben Doak has been turned down by Liverpool.
Doak, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, has become an important figure at the Championship club. Liverpool has no plans to recall him mid-season, but they could consider a sale if an attractive offer comes in. The Reds hold Doak in high regard, with many seeing him as a future replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right flank.
As reported by David Ornstein from The Athletic, Ipswich Town made a slightly higher offer than Palace’s bid, but it too was rejected by Liverpool. With growing competition, Crystal Palace may need to increase their bid to secure the promising Liverpool talent.
