Crystal Palace Target Liverpool Prodigy Ben Doak in Potential £25 Million Deal

Crystal Palace are reportedly aiming to secure the services of Liverpool’s 19-year-old rising star, Ben Doak, in a deal valued at approximately £25 million during the January transfer window. According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, the Eagles are actively seeking offensive reinforcements this winter, identifying the Liverpool loanee as a prime candidate.

However, Football Insider reports that Liverpool are hesitant to offload the talented Scotsman mid-season. While the Merseyside club is reluctant to part ways with Doak, they have reportedly set an asking price between £25 million and £30 million amid interest from Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town.

Doak’s Journey

Since his arrival at Liverpool from Celtic in July 2022, Ben Doak has shown immense promise. The Dalry-born winger honed his skills in Scotland, progressing through the academies of Ayr United and Celtic before making the leap to Liverpool. He made his first-team debut for the Reds in November 2022, though his senior appearances have been limited.

This season, Doak has impressed during his loan spell with Middlesbrough, contributing two goals and six assists in 21 EFL Championship matches. Despite his success at Boro, Crystal Palace are reportedly exploring the possibility of terminating his loan early to secure a permanent move this winter.

Why Crystal Palace Want Ben Doak

Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Ben Doak reflects their intent to bolster their attacking options during the winter window. The Eagles have been linked with several potential signings, including Newcastle’s Miguel Almirón, but view Doak as a promising long-term investment.

While Palace have already seen an initial bid for Doak rejected, they remain confident they can finalize a deal worth around £25 million. That said, Liverpool’s reported valuation of closer to £30 million could prove to be a sticking point.

Liverpool are in a challenging position regarding Doak’s future. The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising young talents in their ranks, and selling him could backfire in the long term. However, if Palace or any suitor meets the Reds’ asking price, the Merseyside club might reluctantly sanction the move.

Crystal Palace’s interest in Ben Doak highlights their ambition to add youthful attacking depth to their squad. However, with Liverpool reportedly demanding up to £30 million, it remains to be seen if the Eagles can convince the Reds to part with their Scottish sensation. For now, Doak’s future hangs in the balance, with Middlesbrough, Liverpool, and Crystal Palace all awaiting the next development in this unfolding transfer saga.
