Liverpool head coach Arne Slot says Jurgen Klopp was among the many people who sent him a message after his side won the Premier League title last Sunday.
Slot’s men thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield to seal Liverpool’s 20th league title , a historic moment that the Dutchman described as “one of the best days” of his life.
Speaking ahead of their game against Chelsea, Slot shared how emotional the day was for both him and the fans. “A lot of messages came in, and even though they were similar, they all came from the heart,” he said.
“I tried to reply to everyone. Sunday was amazing. It was probably one of the best days in the lives of Liverpool fans, and for me as well. Seeing what it meant to them and the players was special to be part of.”
When asked who the most famous person was that congratulated him, Slot replied: “I assume it was Jürgen. He said ‘Congratulations, now I know what a special club it is. You are part of history.’ He was really happy for the fans and the club.”
Arne Slot also believes the title win gives Liverpool a strong advantage going forward. “Before, when I spoke to new players we wanted to sign, I had to tell them how special the fans are here. But after Sunday, I don’t think I need to say it anymore , they’ve seen it for themselves.”
He praised the fans for staying in the stands after the title win, saying: “I’ve seen teams win the league and fans invade the pitch, but ours stayed put. That was unbelievable. Having these fans is a big plus when attracting new players.”
