Andy Lonergan Appointed Liverpool FC Women Goalkeeping Coach

Liverpool FC Women have confirmed Andy Lonergan as the team’s new goalkeeping coach.

The former shot-stopper enjoyed a long playing career with more than 400 appearances across clubs including Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United.

Lonergan is no stranger to Liverpool, having been part of Jurgen Klopp’s men’s squad during the 2019-20 campaign when the Reds lifted the Premier League title. He also collected medals in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup that season.

After leaving Anfield, the 41-year-old spent three years at Everton before taking up a player-coach role with Wigan Athletic last year.

He now takes charge of the goalkeeping department at Liverpool FC Women and will work closely with Rachael Laws, Rafaela Borggrafe and Faye Kirby throughout the new campaign.
