Arne Slot Breaks Silence On Alisson Becker’s Tour Exit

Arne Slot has confirmed that Alisson Becker returned to Brazil earlier this week due to a private matter.
The Liverpool goalkeeper missed Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Yokohama F. Marinos in Tokyo, having also been absent from training the day before. He had featured in the previous match against AC Milan.
Speaking to LFCTV, Slot said:
He had to go back to Brazil for private reasons.
AdvertisementThat’s far from ideal – first of all for the private reasons, second of all for him to not be there in a game like this and in pre-season it’s also not ideal if you miss out on part of the pre-season. But again, private life is more important in these matters than joining a game today.
Alisson is expected to rejoin the squad when Liverpool returns to the UK later this week. The Reds will round off their pre-season with two friendlies at Anfield on August 4.
New signing Giorgi Mamardashvili started in goal against Yokohama, while Freddie Woodman was named on the bench.
Meanwhile, Colombian forward Luis Díaz has completed a permanent move to Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the German champions, ending his three-and-a-half-year stay at Anfield.
