Crystal Palace 0-1 Liverpool Women: Matthews’ Goal Seals Win for Reds

Jasmine Matthews’s early goal gave Liverpool Women a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace Women in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Matthews, returning from injury, marked her first game of 2025 with a crucial strike in the 10th minute. A corner from Marie Höbinger confused the Palace box, and after Gemma Bonner kept the ball in play, Matthews reacted quickest to score from close range.

Liverpool, under interim boss Amber Whiteley after Matt Beard’s departure, controlled much of the game. Sophie Roman Haug and Cornelia Kapocs had chances to extend the lead, but Palace’s defense held firm.
Goalkeeper Rachael Laws played a key role in securing the win, making a vital one-on-one save against Abbie Larkin before halftime. She was called upon again in the final moments, producing a brilliant double save to deny My Cato.
With this win, Liverpool now turn their attention to their Women’s FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal next Sunday at Meadow Park.
