Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle: Reds Go 13 Points Clear at the Top

Liverpool continued their march towards the Premier League title with a comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle at Anfield, extending their lead at the top to 13 points. Despite manager Arne Slot serving a touchline ban, the Reds delivered a professional performance, with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister sealing the victory.
Slot made two changes from the side that beat Manchester City, with Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas replacing Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson. Newcastle, meanwhile, were dealt a blow as Alexander Isak missed out due to a groin injury, with Callum Wilson making his first league start of the season.
Liverpool dominated from the start, controlling possession and creating chances. Szoboszlai opened the scoring in the first half, finishing calmly after a brilliant assist from Luis Diaz. The Hungarian was a constant threat, driving Liverpool forward and nearly adding a second before the break.
The second half saw Liverpool continue to press, and they doubled their lead through Mac Allister. Mohamed Salah, who provided his 17th league assist of the season, set up the Argentine midfielder for a superb finish. Newcastle offered little in response, and Liverpool comfortably saw out the game to secure another three points.
With Arsenal dropping points in a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest, the Reds now sit 13 points clear at the top of the table with 10 games remaining. Slot, watching from the stands, will be delighted with his team’s performance as they edge closer to the title.
