Milos Kerkez Explains Viral Diving Header Tackle vs Preston

Milos Kerkez may have only just made his Liverpool debut, but the Hungarian left-back is already showing why the club spent £40m to bring him in from Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old featured in the second half of Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Preston North End, the team’s opening pre-season game of the summer. It was an emotional day following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, but Kerkez’s fearless performance stood out.

One moment in particular drew attention when he attempted to win the ball in the final third by diving head-first while on the floor.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com during the club’s tour in Hong Kong, Kerkez laughed about the incident and explained how it happened.

Yeah, I saw that! It was a foul even before that I think, but then I saw the referee was not giving anything, he said.

The ball was a little bit far away, I lost balance and I had to jump somewhere. I was closer to jump with my head! I got the ball. I think it was a foul.

It’s me, you know, it’s how I play – I always give 100 per cent.”

Kerkez also spoke about what it means to represent Liverpool and how he’s settling in.

When you play for Liverpool, you have to always give everything on the pitch for the fans and for the badge. That’s what I want to do.

Of course I know it is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and when I cam,e it just surprised me also how professional everything is and how high a level everything is.

You really have to work hard every single day to compete. It’s the highest level. That surprised m,e but it’s also what I was looking for, so I’m really happy.

Liverpool will continue their pre-season on Saturday against AC Milan in Hong Kong. Kerkez is expected to play again as he works on his sharpness ahead of the new season.
