Liverpool Draw PSG in Champions League Last 16

Liverpool will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16, with the second leg set for Anfield.

The Reds topped the new league phase, securing a direct spot in the knockout stage. Their possible opponents were narrowed down to Benfica or PSG after the playoffs. Benfica edged past Monaco 4-3 on aggregate, while PSG demolished Brest 10-0.

UEFA’s draw in Nyon confirmed Liverpool’s trip to Paris for the first leg on March 4/5, with the return at Anfield on March 11/12. The fixture falls between crucial domestic games, including Newcastle in the Premier League (Feb 26), Southampton (Mar 8), and the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle (Mar 16).

Liverpool and PSG last met in the 2018/19 group stage. The Reds won 3-2 at Anfield but lost 2-1 in Paris before going on to win the Champions League. This time, PSG’s main threat is Ousmane Dembélé, who has scored 23 goals in 30 games, including six in the Champions League.

Liverpool head into the tie as strong contenders after winning seven of their eight league-phase matches. Their only defeat came against PSV in a dead-rubber game with heavy rotation from Arne Slot.
