The full-back, who has been one of the club’s standout performers this season, picked up a leg injury during last weekend’s victory at AFC Bournemouth, which forced him off the pitch.
When asked about Alexander-Arnold’s availability for Thursday’s crucial tie, Arne Slot stated:
“He is going to miss the game tomorrow and we have to see if he’s able to play Sunday. But what we do know is he’s not available for tomorrow.”
Although the injury isn’t as serious as initially feared, Alexander-Arnold’s absence is still a significant blow for the Reds. Slot added:
“You saw that he left the pitch with a bit of pain in his leg but he’s already on the pitch, not with the team but with the rehab coach. Let’s see how long it’ll take but he won’t be available tomorrow.”
Despite this setback, all other members of the squad are fit for selection, and Slot will have options to fill the gap left by the influential right-back. The team will need to come together without one of their key figures, as they look to progress to the final of the Carabao Cup.
