Liverpool Quartet Nominated For 2025 Ballon d’Or

Four Liverpool players have been shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Men’s Player of the Year award, following the release of the 30-man list by France Football.

Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk were all key figures in Liverpool’s 2024–25 Premier League title win under head coach Arne Slot. Florian Wirtz, who joined the Reds in June 2025, also makes the list after a brilliant individual season in Germany.

Wirtz became Liverpool’s most expensive signing ever when he arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in a club-record deal. Although he was not part of the team that won the Premier League, the German international has already impressed during pre-season and is expected to play a major role this campaign.

The Ballon d’Or winner will be decided by a panel of football journalists from FIFA’s top 100-ranked nations. Each journalist selects a top 10, with points awarded on a descending scale from 15 to 1. The player with the highest total will take home the trophy at the ceremony in Paris on September 22
