Liverpool Women 0-1 Durham Women: Reds Beaten By Late Hepple Strike

Liverpool FC Women slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Durham in a pre-season clash at the AXA Melwood Training Centre on Sunday.

The game, played in hot conditions and split into three 30-minute periods, was decided late on when Beth Hepple struck from distance to seal victory for the visitors.

Gareth Taylor’s side had chances to go ahead before the decisive moment. Cornelia Kapocs went close on two occasions, while Ceri Holland was denied by the post with a powerful effort. Mia Enderby and academy youngster Maddy Duffy also tested the Durham goalkeeper, but Liverpool could not find a breakthrough.

At the other end, Faye Kirby produced an excellent save to keep out Mariana Speckmaier, before Hepple’s curling strike secured the win for Durham.

The Reds used the friendly to give valuable minutes to several academy players as preparations continue for the 2025-26 season.
