Liverpool Women Beaten 4-1 By Everton In WSL Opener

Liverpool suffered a 4-1 defeat to Everton at Anfield as their Women’s Super League season kicked off on Sunday.
Cornelia Kapocs gave the Reds an early lead with a superb finish after 12 minutes, but Everton hit back through Ornella Vignola before Katja Snoeijs’ header in first-half stoppage time put the visitors ahead.
Liverpool had gone close to scoring again when Gemma Bonner struck the bar and Ceri Holland hit the post, but the missed chances proved costly.

After the break, Everton took control as Vignola struck twice more to complete her hat-trick and put the game beyond Liverpool.
Despite late debuts for Kirsty Maclean, Beata Olsson and Risa Shimizu, the Reds could not find a way back into the contest.
Next up for Liverpool is a trip to face Leicester City away from home on Sunday, September 14.
Liverpool XI: Kirby, Fisk, Bonner, Evans, Woodham, Nagano, Kerr, Höbinger, Holland, Enderby, Kapocs.
Subs used: Maclean, Olsson, Shimizu, Roman H.
