Luis Diaz Eyes Premier League Milestone

Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has revealed that becoming the Premier League’s highest-scoring Colombian player is one of his ambitions. Since joining the Reds from FC Porto in January 2022, Diaz has scored 25 goals in the top flight, placing him fourth among his compatriots.
The 28-year-old is now focused on closing the gap to Juan Pablo Angel, who holds the record with 44 goals. Diaz is also looking to surpass Hugo Rodallega (29 goals) and Hamilton Ricard (31 goals) as he continues to make his mark in English football.
Diaz admitted that he occasionally checks the stats when they are shared on social media. Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com, he said:
“It’s a real pleasure for me to be close to such great fellow Colombian players like Hugo and all the others. You could say it’s another one of those personal targets that I have. I know things are going well for me, and I’m in decent form.”
The winger emphasized the importance of leaving a positive legacy for Colombian players in England. He added:
“What I want the most is to keep making history and, first and foremost, that Colombians who come over to England to play really leave their mark. That’s key for us all now—to give a positive image of our country, just like they all did.”
Diaz has enjoyed his best scoring season at Liverpool so far, netting nine Premier League goals in 2024-25—surpassing his previous tally of eight in 2023-24. His consistent performances have put him on track to climb higher in the all-time scoring charts for Colombian players in the Premier League.
Reflecting on his progress, Luis Diaz said: “I’m very happy with how things are going. I hope to continue making history and inspiring others to follow in my footsteps.”
