“Make A Lot Of Sense” – Didi Hamann Backs £90m Striker Swap

Didi Hamann has urged Liverpool to explore a swap deal that would see Darwin Nunez head to Atletico Madrid, with Julian Alvarez coming the other way.
The former Red believes it would suit everyone, including both clubs and the players themselves and could be the kind of move that pushes Arne Slot’s side forward.
Speaking to Wette.de, Hamann said:
“I’d love to see Julian Alvarez at Liverpool, and I think Darwin Nunez being part of the deal would make a lot of sense. I think Nunez is tailor-made for Atletico Madrid as a physical centre forward, someone who will work so hard, which is what Diego Simeone wants.

“Alvarez would also be a fantastic addition at Liverpool. He played in the shadow of Erling Haaland at Manchester City, but really added to his reputation in Madrid. He led the line, scored goals and made life a nuisance for the back lines he played against. I think he would be a brilliant signing.
“There are rumours about other forwards, but Alvarez would be a great addition to Liverpool, and Nunez might just be an even better signing for Atletico.”
Nunez’s future at Anfield looks uncertain heading into the summer. He’s still Liverpool’s record signing but has struggled to deliver consistently across his three seasons. While his work rate and movement can cause chaos, his finishing has often let him down. Slot is said to be open to freshening up his attack, and Nunez could be the player to make way.
Nunez has been linked with a move away this summer, with Atletico one of the clubs keeping tabs. His high-energy, physical style could suit Diego Simeone’s direct approach better than Arne Slot’s plans at Liverpool.
The Reds, meanwhile, are wasting no time in reshaping the squad. Reports claim a deal has been agreed for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, and if it goes through with all the add-ons, it could break the British transfer record. Talks for Milos Kerkez are also moving, while Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike is being monitored
