Alan Shearer Admits He Was Wrong About Salah

Mohamed Salah has been unstoppable this season, proving doubters wrong and leading Liverpool’s charge for the Premier League title. At 32, he continues to break records and silence critics, including Alan Shearer, who previously questioned whether the Egyptian could maintain his high standards.
Despite speculation about his future, Salah remains Liverpool’s most reliable performer. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but that hasn’t affected his form. In the Merseyside derby against Everton, he delivered a pinpoint cross for Alexis Mac Allister’s equalizer, his ninth away assist in just 13 league matches.
With 13 away goals as well, his total of 23 goal involvements on the road shattered Andy Cole’s long-standing record of 21 from the 1993/94 season. He later found the net himself, further cementing his legendary status.
Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time top scorer, had predicted a slight dip in Salah’s performances due to his unresolved contract situation. Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, he admitted he was wrong.

“I said earlier in the season, didn’t I, that there would be a tiny drop-off because of his contract situation, the worry that you haven’t got the protection or the guarantee of that behind you going forward,” Shearer said.
“At the minute, there hasn’t been at all. I thought it would have only been human nature to see a tiny, tiny drop-off but there isn’t. That tells about his mindset and how tough he is mentally.”
With 27 goals and 19 assists in all competitions this season, Salah has placed himself back among the best in the world. Former Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia has even tipped him for the Ballon d’Or. If he maintains this form, few would argue against it.
Liverpool are yet to resolve his contract situation, but one thing is certain, Salah’s hunger for success remains as strong as ever.
