Sam Kerr Secures Loan Move to Liverpool

The 25-year-old has completed a transfer to Merseyside after facing challenges in securing regular playing time under Alexander Straus at Bayern Munich this season. She has managed only two starts so far.
The midfielder is expected to be a valuable addition to Matt Beard’s squad, which faced scrutiny for its underwhelming summer transfer market activity ahead of the 2024/25 Women’s Super League (WSL) campaign. The Reds, currently sitting eighth in the league table, have found it difficult to replicate the form that earned them a fourth-place finish last season.
Kerr has represented Scotland on 30 occasions at the international level and was honored as the Women’s Player of the Year in 2022. She also earned spots in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
No stranger to success, Kerr has claimed six league titles during her career. She won the Scottish Women’s Premier League with Glasgow City in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, before adding another title to her collection with Rangers in 2022.
“Together with Sam, we concluded that gaining more playing time is vital for her development,” said Bayern Munich’s women’s football director, Bianca Rech. “Liverpool offers the ideal environment for Sam, both culturally and linguistically.”
