Stoke U18s 1-5 Liverpool U18s: Reds Run Riot On Opening Day

Liverpool U18s made a flying start to their new season with a 5-1 win away at Stoke City on Saturday.
DJ Esdaille opened the scoring early on before Joe Bradshaw doubled the lead with a brilliant free-kick midway through the first half. Bradshaw marked his goal by paying tribute to Diogo Jota.
The Reds continued to dominate and after the break produced a stunning moment when Josh Sonni-Lambie lobbed the Stoke keeper from the halfway line, a strike that could be an early Goal of the Season contender.
Substitute Finn Inglethorpe quickly added another with his first touch, and a late own goal from Sanchez Phillips sealed the victory. Stoke’s Tom McNally grabbed a consolation header for the hosts.
It was the perfect start for new head coach Simon Wiles in his first competitive match in charge of the side.
Liverpool’s next game is away to Burnley on August 30 before they return to Kirkby to face Newcastle United on September 13.
