Newcastle United keen on Caoimhin Kelleher, Liverpool open to summer exit
TEAMtalk reports that Newcastle United is interested in signing Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool. The Magpies are looking for a new goalkeeper for the 2025 summer transfer window and have their eyes on the Liverpool player. At the same time, Liverpool is ready to sell the 26-year-old goalkeeper if the right offer comes in.
Kelleher’s Time at Liverpool
Caoimhin Kelleher has been a good backup goalkeeper for Liverpool. He is from Cork, Ireland, and started his football journey in his hometown. He joined Liverpool from Ringmahon Rangers in 2015 and made his first senior game appearance in 2019.
However, Kelleher hasn’t played much for Liverpool because Alisson Becker is the first-choice goalkeeper. So far, the 26-year-old has played in 60 games, keeping 21 clean sheets but letting in 70 goals.
Even with limited chances, Kelleher has impressed many teams. Some reports say Chelsea is interested in him, and now Newcastle United is also looking at him for the 2025 summer transfer window.
Why Newcastle Wants Kelleher
Newcastle needs a new goalkeeper. Nick Pope is getting older and closer to the end of his career, and Martin Dubravka might leave the team soon, with reports linking him to Al Shabab. This means Newcastle must find a strong goalkeeper for the future.
Kelleher could be the one to replace Nick Pope as Newcastle’s main goalkeeper. Newcastle might have a good chance of signing him since Liverpool is open to selling him for the right price.
