Trent Alexander-Arnold joins Real Madrid after 20 years at Liverpool

Real Madrid have officially signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, with both clubs confirming the deal on Friday. Madrid will pay around £10 million to Liverpool so Trent can join early and play in the upcoming Club World Cup.
The right-back was already set to leave Liverpool after deciding not to renew his contract, which was supposed to end in June 2025. But Madrid wanted him now and pushed for an early release.
Trent will now get the chance to play his first game for Madrid on June 18 against Al Hilal in Miami, when the Club World Cup kicks off. He joins a new-look Madrid defence that includes young centre-back Dean Huijsen, who just signed from Bournemouth.

At 26, Alexander-Arnold says he’s ready for a “new challenge” in his career. He’ll also link up with his England teammate Jude Bellingham at the Bernabéu.
Trent leaves Liverpool after 354 matches, 23 goals, and a trophy cabinet full of major titles – including two Premier League trophies (2020, 2025), the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, and two League Cups.
At age six, he joined the Liverpool Academy and became a fan favourite with his passing, leadership, and big-game performances. Liverpool says they are grateful for his years of service and wish him the best for the future.
