Reports: Liverpool in advanced talks to sign Milos Kerkez

Liverpool are moving fast in the transfer market ahead of the summer window, as Fabrizio Romano confirms the Reds are advancing talks to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.

Despite clinching the Premier League title comfortably this season, Liverpool are not resting on their laurels. The club is set to complete the signing of Jeremie Frimpong, who is expected to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold following his announced departure.

Now, Liverpool are closing in on Kerkez, with personal terms reportedly close to being agreed. Romano tweeted:

“Understand Liverpool have contacted Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez deal with talks now advancing! Liverpool are also completing the agreement on personal terms with Kerkez, keen on the move. Negotiations underway between clubs on transfer fee.”

Kerkez, just 21 years old, has impressed in his second season in the Premier League, earning a reputation as a “world-class” talent. He is seen as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who is entering the later stages of his career at 31.

Arne Slot has also praised the young left-back in the past, saying after Liverpool’s win over Bournemouth in February:

“He’s playing over here, he’s having a great season as many, many, many other players here are as well.

That shows you probably how good of a manager you have over here, what a great sporting director you had over here – and maybe still have, I don’t know how the one now is doing.

[Richard Hughes] brought in very good players and this manager works with them in an incredible way, because he brings the best out of every single player, including the one you just mentioned…”

With Kerkez on the left and Frimpong likely to feature on the right, Liverpool’s defence could look very different next season as Arne Slot looks to shape the squad in his image.
