Arne Slot Faces New Injury Blow as Midfielder Leaves Camp

Liverpool have been handed a new injury concern ahead of their upcoming Merseyside derby against Everton, with midfielder Ryan Gravenberch returning early from international duty.

The 22-year-old Dutchman, who has been a standout performer under manager Arne Slot this season, picked up a knock during Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Newcastle on Sunday. Gravenberch started the match but was substituted in the 75th minute, making way for Federico Chiesa, who later scored for the Reds.

Initially, the injury did not seem serious enough to prevent Gravenberch from joining the Netherlands squad for their Nations League quarter-final clash against Spain. However, the Dutch Football Association confirmed on Wednesday that the midfielder has now left their training camp and returned to Liverpool for further assessment.

In a statement, the Netherlands national team said:

“Ryan Gravenberch has left the Oranje’s training camp this evening. The midfielder is still suffering from an injury sustained over the weekend that prevents him from playing in the matches against Spain. Take care, Ryan!”

The news comes as a blow to Liverpool, who are cruising towards the Premier League title but now face the possibility of being without one of their key players for the crucial derby against Everton. Gravenberch’s absence would be a significant setback, given his impressive form this season.
