Liverpool Legends Squad Confirmed for Chelsea Clash

Liverpool Legends are set to face Chelsea Legends this weekend in a special charity match at Anfield, and the squad has been finalized with some iconic names.
The game will reignite memories of the famous 2004/05 Champions League campaign, where Liverpool triumphed over Chelsea in a dramatic semi-final before lifting the trophy in Istanbul.
The first wave of players confirmed in December included Jerzy Dudek, the penalty shootout hero from the 2005 final, and Djimi Traore and Djibril Cissé, who also played key roles in that historic victory. Fabio Aurélio and Robbie Keane were also announced at the time.
In January, the squad expanded with the addition of Sander Westerveld, Martin Škrtel, Ragnar Klavan, Mark Gonzalez, Jay Spearing, and Dirk Kuyt. Later, Sami Hyypiä, David James, Bjørn Tore Kvarme, Gregory Vignal, Mohamed Sissoko, Igor Bišćan, and Florent Sinama Pongolle were confirmed. The excitement grew further when Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was announced as part of the squad earlier this month.
Now, the Reds have made history by including Natasha Dowie, Liverpool Women ambassador and former player, in the squad. Dowie will become the first woman to feature in the annual Legends game, marking a significant moment for the club.
“It’s so exciting for us to include female players in this year’s legends game. We’re the first to do this at club level, we are pioneers, and it’s a big thing for young girls and boys to see this happening,” Dowie said.
“The legends games are something I’ve watched for many years, so to now be involved in one is just going to be incredible. It really is going to be a great occasion, and I can’t wait. I’ve been counting down the days!”
