Jamie Carragher picks 6 signings Liverpool ‘needs’ this summer

Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool, despite being on the verge of winning the Premier League, still needs to strengthen their squad with six new signings.
In his Telegraph column, Carragher pointed out that the Reds may need reinforcements in key positions, even if they secure the title. He mentioned that the team needs a left-back, a centre-back, a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a left winger, and a centre-forward.
“Liverpool need a left-back to compete with Andy Robertson, extending the Scottish captain’s Anfield career by reducing the necessity for him to play every game,” Carragher said.
He also stressed the importance of adding another central defender. “They need a centre-back to ensure there is no crisis if Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are unavailable,” he added.
Jamie Carragher believes the midfield also needs strengthening to reduce the workload on some key players. “A deep central midfielder so that Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are not as overburdened next season as they have been in this one,” he explained.

The ex-Liverpool defender also pointed out the need for more firepower up front. “Add to that an attacking midfielder who will score and create more than Dominik Szoboszlai. And finally, a left winger and centre-forward who can win games as often as Mohamed Salah,” Carragher added.
Carragher thinks that these new additions would not replace current players but rather improve the team’s overall depth. “Such additions would enhance rather than replace those who have inspired Liverpool to the top,” he noted.
He also praised Arne Slot for his work with the squad so far, saying, “What makes Slot’s achievement to this point more remarkable is that he has taken the side so far without making a major first-team signing other than the rarely used Federico Chiesa.”
