Gemma Bonner Signs New Liverpool Deal Ahead of 10th Season

Gemma Bonner has signed a new contract with Liverpool FC Women, committing her future to the club ahead of what will be her 10th season in red.
The 34-year-old centre-back, who rejoined Liverpool in 2023, is the club’s record appearance holder in the Women’s Super League era and remains a key figure in the squad as they prepare for the 2025-26 season.
“It was very easy,” Bonner said after penning the deal at AXA Melwood. “Once I knew that the club wanted to extend, for me it was a no-brainer.”

Bonner is in her second spell with the Reds, having first joined in 2012. She captained Liverpool to WSL titles in 2013 and 2014 and returned to help guide the team back to the top tier.
She broke the club’s WSL appearance record in November 2023, overtaking Ashley Hodson’s 134-game tally. Her current total stands at 177 appearances.
Speaking about the club’s transition under new leadership and ambitions for the future, Bonner said: “The club is obviously going through a bit of a transition process, but there’s ambition to get back and compete for trophies.”
She added, “The fans have been unbelievable. I absolutely love playing for the club.”
