Liverpool Name 29-Man Squad For Asia Tour – Chiesa Left Out

Liverpool have confirmed their 29-man squad for this summer’s pre-season tour in Asia, but there’s no place for Federico Chiesa or Jayden Danns.

The Reds departed for the Far East on Sunday night and will face AC Milan in Hong Kong on July 26 before heading to Japan to take on Yokohama F. Marinos on July 30.

Arne Slot’s side had earlier beaten Stoke City 5-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the AXA Training Centre, with Chiesa among the scorers. But despite featuring in that match, the Italy international has not been included in the group travelling to Asia. Danns, who many expected to be involved, was not even named in the Stoke matchday squad.

The confirmed travelling party includes five goalkeepers, with new signings Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman and 20-year-old Armin Pecsi all making the trip. Alisson Becker and youngster Kornel Misciur complete the group.

Defensively, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley, Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas and Luca Stephenson are all on board. They are joined by summer arrivals Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, both of whom started against Stoke.

In midfield, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are all included. Trey Nyoni and Tyler Morton also travel, along with Harvey Elliott, who links up with the group late after winning the U21 Euros with England. Morton also featured in that campaign.

Up front, the usual names are all present – Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Ben Doak are joined by Florian Wirtz and 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha.
