Liverpool Women 2-2 Man United Women: Holland And Kapocs On Target In Friendly

Liverpool FC Women twice found the net through Ceri Holland and Cornelia Kapocs but had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Manchester United after a late equaliser at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday night.

The Reds fell behind early when Simi Awujo punished a defensive error to give the hosts the lead. Liverpool responded strongly, and Holland brought them level midway through the first half with a fine finish into the far corner after cutting inside.

Rafaela Borggrafe then produced a superb double save to keep United at bay, denying Elisabeth Terland and Julia Zigiotti Olme in quick succession, while Gemma Bonner made a crucial block just before half-time.

Five minutes into the second half, Liverpool turned the game around. Mia Enderby drove down the left and set up Kapocs, who curled an excellent effort into the top corner to make it 2-1.

The visitors looked on course for their first win under new head coach Gareth Taylor, but United struck back late when Ella Toone volleyed home to ensure the game ended level.
