Mo Salah is close to signing a new contract with Liverpool, according to reliable reports from trusted journalists.
After months of speculation, it now appears both Salah and Virgil van Dijk are heading towards agreeing on new deals at Anfield, a timely boost for the Reds as the season nears its end.
Paul Joyce reports that “there is a growing expectation that a new deal will be struck with Salah,” as Liverpool looks to keep hold of one of their biggest stars.
This follows an earlier update from David Ornstein, who said contracts for both players are now a matter of “when rather than if.”
Joyce adds that sporting director Richard Hughes has led the talks and has been in contact with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa. Sources close to the player indicate an agreement is now close.
Although no official details have been released yet, a two-year extension seems the most likely outcome — one that would keep the Egyptian at the club until 2027, marking ten years at Anfield.
Paul Joyce also hinted that Salah had been holding out for improved terms: “A contract offer has been on the table for some time,” with Salah reportedly seeking “a better deal.”
