Liverpool 2-4 AC Milan: Ngumoha Shines As Reds Beaten In Hong Kong

Liverpool were beaten 4-2 by AC Milan in front of a sold-out crowd at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on Saturday, as the Reds suffered their first loss of the summer tour.

An emotional tribute was held for Diogo Jota, who sadly passed away earlier this summer. Fans displayed a “DJ20” mosaic in the stands, while Sir Kenny Dalglish laid a wreath on the pitch in memory of the Portuguese forward and his brother.

Sixteen-year-old Rio Ngumoha started again and was one of the standout players in the first half. He played with confidence and helped create Liverpool’s first goal. Rafael Leao gave Milan the lead early on, but Ngumoha danced past two defenders and set up Dominik Szoboszlai, who curled a brilliant shot into the far corner to make it 1-1.

Ngumoha nearly scored minutes later, beating two players before his shot was saved.

At half-time, Slot made nine changes. Alisson was replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili in goal. The new defence included Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Kostas Tsimikas, and Milos Kerkez, who played at centre-half.

Gravenberch shifted into midfield alongside Nyoni and Curtis Jones. Frimpong played up front on the right wing, with Ben Doak in the middle and Cody Gakpo on the left.

Milan scored two quick goals in the second half through Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Noah Okafor. The Reds had chances to respond, with Cody Gakpo and Gravenberch going close, and Frimpong making dangerous runs down the right.

Gakpo made it 3-2 late on with a good header from a Konate cross, but Milan quickly scored again after a mistake at the back allowed Okafor to get his second of the game.

Liverpool will now turn its attention to their next pre-season game against Yokohama F. Marinos on July 3
