Liverpool FC Academy Marks Holocaust Memorial Day with Visit

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, Liverpool FC Academy’s U18 squad visited the Manchester Jewish Museum as part of their ongoing cultural and educational development. This year’s commemoration is particularly poignant, as it marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
The players took part in a session focused on Jewish identity, which included a tour of the synagogue to learn about Jewish worship practices. They were also given the opportunity to hear firsthand stories of Holocaust survivors, bringing the historical significance of the day into a deeply personal perspective.

Each player made a pledge during the visit to carry forward the memory of the Holocaust and contribute to preventing prejudice. Prince Cisse, one of the players who attended, remarked: “It was eye-opening to learn about different religions and the importance of remembering and respecting the Holocaust.”
The visit, led by the Academy’s head of education Caitlin Hawkins, forms part of the U18s’ life skills and personal development program, reinforcing the importance of cultural understanding. Over the years, the Academy has taken part in numerous visits to Holocaust sites, with the U15 squad preparing to participate in the Auschwitz tournament this April.
