Liverpool’s Jayden Danns joins Sunderland on loan

Jayden Danns has completed his loan move to Sunderland, with the Liverpool striker joining the Championship side for the rest of the season. The 19-year-old had attracted interest from multiple clubs, but Sunderland won the race, securing a promising young forward as they push for promotion.
Danns arrived on Wearside, underwent his medical, and is now officially part of Regis Le Bris’ squad. The move comes just days after he made history for Liverpool, becoming the club’s youngest player to start a Champions League game in the clash against PSV Eindhoven. Despite his rapid rise, Liverpool’s stacked attacking options meant game time was limited, making a temporary switch the best solution for all parties.
Before finalizing the deal, Liverpool tied Danns down with a new long-term contract, rewarding his progress over the past year. The club remains confident in his potential, and regular minutes in the Championship will be key to his development.
At Sunderland, Danns joins a youthful attacking setup alongside Wilson Isidor, Eliezer Mayenda, and Trey Ogunsuyi. Though not guaranteed a starting role, his versatility—capable of playing up front, on the wings, or even in a deeper role—gives him a strong chance to make an impact.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has been full of praise for the teenager’s mentality, previously stating: “If that is your mentality, you can definitely get the most out of your potential. What that potential is, that probably needs some time to find out if he will in the end be a starter for us. But that he will have a very good career because of his mentality, I’m very sure of.”
Danns has netted three goals in nine senior appearances for Liverpool, averaging one every 64.3 minutes. Now, with a fresh challenge ahead, he has the perfect opportunity to continue his rise in English football.
