Wenger Doubts Arsenal’s Title Hopes, Calls Liverpool Favorites

Arsène Wenger has expressed doubts about Arsenal’s chances of catching Liverpool in the Premier League title race, stating that the Reds remain strong favorites unless they experience an unexpected collapse.

The former Arsenal manager, who led the club to three league titles before leaving in 2018, believes the statistics are against Mikel Arteta’s side. Speaking on beIN Sports, Wenger emphasized Liverpool’s consistency as a major obstacle.

He said, “They need to lose games. We are 25 matches in, and Liverpool have only lost once. That means they must lose at least three times in the next 13 games.” For Arsenal, the challenge is not only hoping for Liverpool to slip up but also maintaining a perfect run themselves. Wenger admitted that while he hopes for a turnaround, the odds still favor Liverpool.

“At the moment, it looks unlikely unless they collapse. So far, they have been near perfect, which makes them clear favorites,” he added. “Arsenal have to win every game. I pray, I pray, but maybe I need to improve the quality of my praying.”

Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures include tough away matches against Aston Villa and Manchester City, which could provide Arsenal with a chance to close the gap. However, Wenger’s comments highlight the reality that Liverpool’s dominance leaves little room for error.
